Belgrade’s longest-running conference for software engineers is returning this November with a program focused on one of the biggest shifts in software engineering.

Heapcon 2026 will take place on November 5–6 at the Madlenianum Opera & Theatre, bringing together software engineers, architects, product thinkers, and technology leaders from across the region and beyond.

Now in its eighth edition, Heapcon 2026 centers around a single theme: Intelligence. Not AI as a trend or marketing category, but intelligence as a new condition of software development where tooling increasingly writes code, systems make decisions autonomously, and engineers are forced to rethink how architecture, security, quality, and product thinking evolve under automation.

The conference will explore what thoughtful engineering looks like when execution becomes cheap, but judgment, context, and systems thinking become more valuable than ever.

Initial Lineup Revealed for Heapcon 2026

The first wave of confirmed speakers spans AI systems, cybersecurity, software quality, UX psychology, and modern development practices:

  • Dora Makszy, Head of Design @ Element Logic — The Irresistible UX: The Psychology of Brainwaves and Clickbait
  • Dušan Stanojević, CEO and Founder @ Traceway — Signals, Proxies, and Dark Magic
  • Ines Panker, Staff Engineer @ Sleuth — Software Estimates and the Illusion of Control
  • Ties van de Ven, Software Quality Expert @ Alliander — The S in LLM Stands for Security
  • Yash Thakare, Software Engineer – AI (Mphasis) @ Liferay — Hackathon to Reality: What Breaks When You Build AI Agents Fast (and How to Fix It)

Additional speakers and sessions will be announced in the coming weeks and months. The current lineup with talk details is available at Heapcon Speakers Page.

Early Bird Tickets Available

A limited batch of Early Bird tickets is currently available at a 20% discounted rate before the full conference program is announced.

Tickets are available at the conference's website.

Call for Speakers Closes June 1

Heapcon is still accepting talk submissions from engineers and practitioners working on real-world technical challenges.

The conference is particularly interested in deep technical case studies, architectural lessons, scaling stories, AI engineering realities, infrastructure challenges, developer tooling, and hard-earned insights from building production systems.

Applications can be submitted via the Heapcon Call for Speakers page.
