This year’s SPLET Tech Conference celebrated Serbia’s rising prominence in the tech world. Held on October 8th, the event brought together industry leaders, startups, and enthusiastic participants for a full day of dynamic discussions, innovative pitches, and engaging workshops.
A Fast-Growing Gaming Scene in Serbia
One of the discussions at this year’s conference centered on the rapid growth of the gaming industry in Serbia. Leading experts, including Kristina Janković Obućina (Serbian Games Association), Nikola Stojanović (Wargaming), and Adam Kovač (3Lateral), presented findings from the latest Gaming Industry Report. The report highlighted Serbia’s emerging status in game development, with Belgrade, Novi Sad, and Niš leading the charge.
Mobile gaming is currently the top performer, with experts expressing optimism about the industry's future. As the ecosystem matures, the demand for skilled professionals is increasing, particularly in areas like game design and development. The country’s talent pool is rapidly expanding, positioning Serbia as a significant player within the European gaming landscape. A standout success was Highwater, a post-apocalyptic adventure game by Demagog Studio, which became the first Serbian title featured on Netflix Games.

These young companies reflect the energy and entrepreneurial spirit driving Serbia’s tech scene, underscoring local innovation.
Turning Ideas into Prototypes: Practical Advice
Nova Iskra’s Nana Radenković delivered a hands-on workshop focused on transforming ideas into prototypes. Participants learned valuable steps and strategies to refine their concepts and bring them closer to reality. The session offered practical advice for navigating product development challenges, from idea to execution.
A Platform for Collaboration and Growth
Supported by USAID, the conference is organized by two projects: “Serbia Innovates”, realized by ICT Hub, and “Venture an Idea”, led by the Digital Serbia Initiative. The event provided a vital platform for collaboration between local startups, established tech companies, and international organizations. By connecting innovators and fostering partnerships, SPLET Tech 2024 continues to play a crucial role in supporting Serbia’s tech landscape and driving its innovation potential forward.
