TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR WORK
I work as an intellectual property investigator which means I gather evidence for companies’ brand protection programmes that help enforce their intellectual property rights. I also manage the Online Monitoring programme which focuses on online anti-counterfeiting and enforcement.

WHAT IS YOUR COMPANY OR BUSINESS FOCUSED ON?
Intellectual Property and Brand Protection research, offering services worldwide.

HOW DID U END UP IN BELGRADE?
My visa for the UK ran out so I moved back to Belgrade (where my mom is from) and started working remotely for the company I worked for in London. The new visa took a long time and after a while I realised I enjoyed living here much more, so I decided to stay and continue working remotely.

WHAT IS YOUR EXPERIENCE WORKING FROM BELGRADE?
It’s overall been great, especially since I joined Nova Iskra in 2019 – that was a game changer and has really improved my everyday working experience, it feels like a close community of friends and the networking opportunities you get from a coworking space have been great.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE PLACES IN BELGRADE?
I love Dorćol, Stari Grad and Savamala because of the juxtaposition of old and new architecture and because of the convenient location within the city, as well as the role the old city plays as the cultural hub of Belgrade (and also the great nightlife!) I also love Zemun, also for the architecture, and restaurants.

WHAT IS THE PERFECT WEEKEND IN BELGRADE FOR YOU LOOKS LIKE?
A coffee at a bohemian cafe in Dorćol, maybe Kosančićev Venac, a walk through Kalemegdan, a visit to an exhibition, lunch or dinner at a cool restaurant, maybe at Beton Hala, and then a night out in Savamala or a splav if it’s summertime.

WHAT WAS THE BIGGEST CULTURAL CONTRAST YOU NOTICED WHEN YOU MOVED HERE
The “organised chaos” way of doing things (it has its positives and negatives) but mostly how warm and open people are. It’s really easy to meet people. Also people love enjoying life and having long coffee breaks – a bit different from London!

WOULD YOU RECOMMEND BELGRADE AS THE PLACE TO WORK FROM?
Yes 100%. I think living and working here as a nomad is the best set up because you get the best of Belgrade. There’s plenty of cool co working spaces and work-friendly cafés. I think it’s an easy place to get accustomed to and enjoy. In the past 5 years it has really become more cosmopolitan while still retaining its charm.
