Havana – Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra
March 3, 2023 @ 8:00 am - 8:00 pm
The Belgrade Philharmonic’s concert season “On the Right Track” is taking the audience on a promenade through different parts of the world. The orchestra is roving around the world through 25 concerts, accompanied by the best international soloists and conductors, with each concert carrying the name of a city. Each concert is taking place in Kolarac Conmcert Hall.
The sounds of Cuban music inspired George Gershwin to write his famous Cuban Overture and a few decades later gave Efrain Oscher the motivation for the last movement of his Danzas Latinas. This work was specially written for trumpet player Pacho Flores, who will be joining the Belgrade Philharmonic with the young conductor Felix Mildenberger, already known to our audience. In the second part, we listen to music from Stravinsky’s ballet The Firebird, which the composer himself conducted during his historic visit to Havana in 1946.
