Sailing off for a holiday is just a part of the summer equation. The other, more sizeable part, is where we dig around locally to discover the best of urban meet-ups, half-hidden events, and maybe a summer delicacy or two.

Luckily, Serbia’s hot summer months are the busiest time of year, particularly in the capital, providing plenty of excuses to make a holiday out of your every walk or trip across the city. In that spirit, we did some local digging to find out what’s going on in Belgrade this summer season. Stay tuned for more.

Warhol at Belgrade City Museum

Years have passed since Andy Warhol had a show of this magnitude in Belgrade. On display at the SALON Gallery of the Belgrade City Museum are 40 prints by the Godfather of the pop-art movement, including some of his most memorable depictions of Marylin Monroe or the uber-famous motifs of Campbell's Soup Cans, Space Fruit, and Flowers. All Colors of Warhol exhibition is open through July 30th, 2024.

All Action at the Aktivni Klub

How’s your chess mastery doing? Or your ping pong prowess? You have the opportunity to test both at the various locations across the city in the organization of the Aktivni Klub (The Active Club). The tours are open to all and often followed by music or some grill action. And besides the chess and ping pong, the club raises the bar and runs climbing practices and matinees on the Zemun wall.

Open-Air Yoga Sessions

Every Tuesday and Wednesday at the Silosi culture complex (also known as the place with the most spectacular sunset-viewing experience in Belgrade) the Shiva Shakti school invites you to their open-air yoga classes. For those in the know, this summer is reserved for Hatha and Vinyasa styles of yoga, one a slower, more meditative style, while the other is a more modern variation that involves more movement.

But what do we know?

Night Picnic, Anyone?

It’s not a novelty that Piknik organizes hours-long picnic sessions from time to time. What’s new, however, is the plan to organize its first 12-hour picnic – stretching well into the evening, this very July 20th.

The location is Kalemegdan, and later in the evening, picnic-goers will have the opportunity to take a look through a professional-grade telescope. The Planetarium will bring the telescope to the park, specifically for this Piknik event.

Bonus Tip: Summer Indulgence No.1

For those who stuck with us till the end, here’s your reward. After a prolonged tasting session and several last-second amendments, we finally have the winner of this summer’s most yummy tidbit. It’s the vegan ice-cream made by the good folks at FLUO. Worth a try more than once!
