We have an announcement that might interest all the trendsetters, fashion aficionados, dressing gurus, and other glitterati out there.
This week through May 14th, Belgrade is host to the 51st L'Oréal Fashion Week, taking place at the Ušće Shopping Center plateau. As you might have figured, the show is run under the auspices of L'Oréal Paris, and the running theme for this year is A Modern Renaissance.
In a nod to sister events in Paris, NY, and London, the BFW went for the showroom tent with over 1,000 square meters of space where local and International designers gave us their vision of the Renaissance of the future.
Without much ado, let's hit the runway and see what awaits at the 2023 Belgrade Fashion Week.
Tribute to Vivienne Westwood
The absolute star of the week ought to be Vivienne Westwood, the recently deceased queen mother of modern fashion design. Her punk-laden esthetics and boutique clothes will be the subject of a special tribute show on Thursday, May 11th. Over ten established designers will present their creations on the eve, winking to Westwood's ubiquitous style.
Fashion Incubator
The next day is mostly reserved for young, up-and-coming designers who will stage their very own show titled Rethink Fashion. Students, graduates, and post-graduates will be encouraged to flip the radical switch, breathe new freshness into the canon, and share a new vision of the future.
Street & Urban Fashion Festival
Now we are at the crux of the 51st Belgrade Fashion Week. On Friday through Saturday, the event shifts towards the here and now to present the very best of Street & Urban creations. Fashion brands all over the world will bring their wares for show and offer them for sale as well.
Finally, the tent doors will be closed with a show of leading Serbian male clothes brand Martini Vesto, donned by Serbian designer, ex-model, and news host Boško Jakovljević.
Best of
If, by any grievous chance, you couldn't bother to visit Ušće, do not fret. The Best of Belgrade Fashion Week panels are in the pipeline, to be installed at the Kalemegdan stairs on Sunday. So, next time you decide to enjoy the Sun setting over the Sava River, stop for a moment to see what you missed.
